Dublin Aviation Summit 2018

Last week Eamonn, Patrick and Ciaran resourced the Key Plastics stand for two busy days at the Dublin Aviation Summit.  This is only the second year the summit has been run in Dublin but it’s already an important event and a key date in the calendar for the airline industry.

Last year’s event attracted well over 1,600 delegates from Airlines and industry suppliers and this year the event was even busier and more impressive than in 2017.  The management team at Key Plastics love getting out and about to meet up with clients old and new – this event gave us a great chance to network with lots of amazing companies.

New for 2018

The Summit covered a wide range of relevant topics including Airline Economics, Airline Interiors, Financing, Engines, MRO and Composites and IT and Technology.

There were some excellent new additions to this year’s Aviation Summit that we really enjoyed:

Meet the Buyer

This gave delegates a great chance to meet face to face with a number of key players from the world of leasing and to network with all of the major airlines.

Aviation Technical Training and Recruitment

Another new and very popular addition was the Technical Training & Recruitment area. This was a hub of several companies in recruitment mode, including those who frequently run internships and apprenticeships for the next generation of aviation staff.

Talks and Panel Discussions

Throughout the summit a variety of extremely informative presentations and panel discussions took place. On Wednesday afternoon we really enjoyed the discussion ‘A Sustainable Approach to Aircraft Plastics Repairs’ which covered innovative solutions for plastic repair systems for aircraft interiors. The Keynote speech was also on Wednesday and given by Glenn Reynolds of KPMG and it covered some critical financial topics for airlines, titled ‘Aviation Leasing – A VAT, Customs and Brexit Update’.

In terms of the Technical Training and Recruitment Conference – we thought the presentation by Bridge Corry, Chairperson of IASA, on ‘Education and Talent: Bridging the Talent Gap’ was excellent. It’s fantastic and very encouraging to see such enthusiasm about working in the airline industry.

The Key Plastics Stand

It was a couple of very exciting days at the Key Plastics stand and we got to chat with tonnes of great people. Over the past number of years we’ve done a lot of work with aerospace companies – producing specialist cabin interiors and seating – so it the Aviation Summit was the perfect event to meet up with people from this industry.

We brought with us some of our airline seating solutions which garnered a lot of interest at our stand. At Key Plastics we have the luxury of being able to produce complete aerospace components at one facility which greatly improves the end product for our customers.

We found the Dublin Aviation Summit to be very beneficial. It was great to have the opportunity to explain how Key Plastics support the supply chains for the cabin interiors market. We look forward to participating again at next year’s summit”, The Key Plastics Team.

See You Soon

We’ll be at a number of other industry events throughout the rest of 2018 so please keep an eye on our news section for details. If you want to arrange a private meeting at any event – or at our facility – please don’t hesitate to get in touch.
